Named for the superior tonal quality of the woods used by the finest guitar makers, the three piece band includes: Scott Hershey with vocals, guitar, fiddle and mandolin; BJ McNeillie with vocals, conga drums and percussion; and Bob Arbogast with lead guitar, mandolin, bass and musical arrangement. Both Scott and Bob have played together for over 20 years in other bands. BJ has her vocal roots in theatre musicals and is also a skilled bagpipe musician, playing events throughout Central Pennsylvania.
Scott is credited with forming the trio. "After playing the fiddle and mandolin for years as a bluegrass musician, I felt the need to experiment," Scott said. "I like bluegrass, but I wanted to incorporate other styles of music as well."
"Rosewood" still has its roots in country music, but they do mix it up a bit. Modeled after a musical group that Scott heard while visiting Manteo on the Outer Banks in North Carolina, "Rosewood" falls into the acoustical, easy listening category, appealing to a broad listening audience. They perform mostly cover music presently, but are beginning to add original material as the group progresses.
As for the venues the group is most interested in playing--"Private parties, corporate and public events and receptions," Scott said. "Right now, we're keeping our options open and welcome new opportunities. We enjoy performing and want our audiences to relate to the music and hope to leave a lasting impression. Stop by and check us out!"
The group will be performing at 7:00pm Friday, April 21, 2006 at Coyote Joe's Cafe in Camp Hill, Pa.
